Our Spirituality And The Food We Eat – The Deep Invisible Connection

The food we eat does not only have an impact on our metabolism and our outer health, but it also has a profound effect on our inner soul and spirituality. The food we eat cultivates our spirituality and makes us grounded to our self. The fact that the food we consume might have an impact on how we feel and how spiritually connected we are to our selves. This connection with the person is essential as it helps us understand the meaning of life and be able to connect with the people around them.

  • A prevalent way to connect with the spirituality from the food aspect is to have a day designated for fasting every week. The fast should be about abstinence from one kind of food, be it water or any liquid and solid food. It helps in inculcating the feeling of harmony with people who cannot, in reality, afford the food that we enjoy. Life is complicated without the material comforts that we enjoy. Many do not have enough finances to buy themselves food. Through fasting, we develop empathy for such people, we are closer to our spiritual selves, and this helps us find inner peace.
  • The second method that can be adapted to connect with spirituality through food is to avoid eating out a lot. The reason for this practice is that we end up spending a minimum of 8 to 9 dollars every time we eat out. This amount is roughly equivalent to what many people around the world earn in a week. It helps us learn discipline. We find out how others make do with what they have in their homes rather than seeking external sources.
  • Another practice that can be practiced is to stop snacking. It is a terrible habit that we have all developed. Working on projects for long hours, we have some snacks with us to chew and nibble. It signifies that we are giving in to our desires and becoming the slaves of our wishes. This way, we fail to differentiate between the needs and wants because when our will and desires are not in our control, we view every want as our need. Trying to curb the habit can lead us to harness our desires at a very initial stage, but it can go a long way. Carnal desires can be controlled, and we realize our self-connecting with spirituality and inner peace.
  • There is a very famous saying, “We are what we eat.” It is very true. If we eat positive food, we tend to emanate positive energy. Active foods are naturally occurring in healthy foods. These foods not only help us remain healthy but help us stay spiritually positive as well. Harmful foods cause negative black energy to build up, and there comes the point where our negative energy starts affecting our lives, our actions, and the interactions we have with people around us. Thus, positive food leads to positive energy and a healthy body!
